Butterflies
- Handle wings very gently with tweezers or forceps. Avoid touching the scales, even light contact can damage their iridescence.
- Mount in a shadow box or frame with acid-free backing.
- Keep away from direct sunlight, moisture, and fluctuating temperatures to preserve color.
Beetles
- Pin through the thorax using insect pins; support larger specimens with additional foam or backing.
- Avoid bending legs or antennae, you can position them using small strips of paper during drying.
- For long-term care, maintain a stable, dry environment to prevent mold or deterioration.
